James Green – CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
James Green joined search retargeting leader Magnetic in October 2011 as chief executive officer charged with driving overall company expansion and building out Magnetic’s search retargeting infrastructure.

Mr. Green began his career in the entertainment industry and spent eight years with The Walt Disney Company culminating in his appointment as the General Manager of the Japanese market. From Disney, Mr. Green moved to Pixar Animation Studios where he worked for Steve Jobs as the VP of marketing and new business development. In 1998, Mr. Green became a founding partner and CEO of Sabela Media, an Internet ad serving company. After an explosive 18 months of revenue growth, Sabela Media sold for $70 million to 24/7 Real Media where Mr. Green served as president of technology solutions. In October 2000, Mr. Green became CEO of GiantBear, where he successfully launched new products with major carriers (Cingular, Rogers AT&T and others), before selling the business to InfoSpace in March 2002. After GiantBear, Mr. Green became CEO of PVI, a virtual advertising company, which he took private in 2003 before it was sold to Cablevison in May of 2005. Mr. Green then joined Giant Realm, a vertical ad network, as CEO in January 2007 and sold the company to Burst Media in October 2009.

From 2009 until joining Magnetic, Mr. Green fulfilled his lifelong dream of traveling around the world on his sailboat with his wife and two children. He documented the trip at www.SailingOndine.com. James lives in New York City

Josh Shatkin-Margolis – FOUNDER
Josh Shatkin-Margolis founded Magnetic™ (originally Domdex) in April 2008.  Josh brings more than twelve years of experience in the field of online marketing and data. Previously, Josh spent 3 years at Yahoo where he was the Director of Engineering responsible for data processing within the advertising division. While there he contributed to the launch of the backend for the new Yahoo Advertising system called Panama. Prior to Yahoo, Josh was at DoubleClick for 6 years, where he served as principal architect responsible for all banner ad serving technologies. Josh managed the complete rewrite of the data processing system as well as the engineering and product teams, culminating in the successful launch of the search engine marketing product DART Search. Josh has additionally worked as an engineer at PlanetAll, a social networking website bought by Amazon.com, PaintedWord, a multi-dimensional database software and consulting company, and E-Lytics, a website analytics company. Josh has a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Matthew Novick – CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICIAL
Matthew Novick, appointed to Chief Financial Officer after serving as Interim CEO, joined the Magnetic team as vice president of finance and operations in August 2010 after spending the past six years in both finance and sales operations at AOL. While at AOL, Novick held numerous positions where he was charged with everything from analyzing sell-through rates and CPMs, to organizing sales expenditures and revenue. Most recently, he managed the national revenue forecast and sales compensation by developing a home-grown forecasting tool to integrate frontend and backend technologies and designed sales commission plans aimed at driving additional sales and the resulting revenue. Before AOL, Novick worked as a business consultant at IBM in the government projects group. He spends his spare time as a part-time operations manager for a 98-year-old family furniture business where he works on purchasing, advertising and increasing showroom utilization. Novick received his MBA in finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business and his BA in economics from The George Washington University.

Lou Pine – VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES
Lou Pine, VP of Sales at Magnetic is an accomplished entrepreneurial executive with over 14 years of extensive digital experience in sales, including display, mobile media, lead generation, search and email marketing. As VP of Sales, Lou is responsible for driving national sales strategy for Magnetic and oversees agency relationships. Prior to Magnetic, Pine was director of east coast advertising sales for Trulia where he was responsible for staffing, training, and growing the company’s first east coast consumer advertising division. Before Trulia, Pine served as the co-founder of Butter Inc., which was later acquired by 4INFO Mobile Media.  While at Butter Inc. Lou doubled advertising revenue in the first quarter after the acquisition and brought several new brand advertisers on board, including KFC, Time Warner, and Energizer. Pine has also held senior director roles with Everyday Health and Phase2Media , and co-founded Permission Data LLC, a lead generation company where he built a team of 26 employees and grew revenues from zero to $14MM in six years.

Mark Weiss – VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING

Mark Weiss brings a variety of experience as a software engineer, architect and development manager to the role of Senior Director of Engineering at Magnetic. Prior to joining Magnetic, Mark worked for three years as Associate Director of Architecture at the educational software company Wireless Generation. At Wireless Mark served as a technical lead and architect for teams that built a social portal for New York City teachers and a reporting and analytics platform, led engineering recruiting efforts, and served as a lead architect and engineering department manager. Prior to Wireless, Mark was a Senior Engineer at Moody’s Investors Service, working as the architect and development lead on real-time analyst notification and document and ratings publishing systems, and in various roles across web and data development and operations support. Before that, Mark was a search and web application engineer and engineering manager at Barnes & Noble.com, and the Director of New Media at New York ad agency SpierNY. Mark has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from NYU and an undergraduate degree from Columbia University.

Aaron Doades – HEAD OF ACCOUNT & YIELD MANAGEMENT

Aaron Doades is head of account management and yield management at Magnetic and is responsible for growing relationships with existing clients, and managing optimization strategies to drive performing campaigns. With experience in sales and business development across publisher sites, display networks, affiliate firms, and data companies, Aaron brings a holistic media perspective to Magnetic with a dedicated interest in the intersection of real-time bidding, data targeting and dynamic creative. Before Magnetic, Aaron served leadership roles in sales and business development at Solve Media (formerly Adcopy) and Brightgeist Media (formerly Precision Prospects). He was also the founder of Mighty Penny, an ad-supported online gaming site, which was sold in 2008. Aaron holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from University of Maryland, College Park.

Jamie Fishler – DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
Jamie brings a diverse skill set to Magnetic’s marketing strategy, which stems from her national and global experience working with advertising agencies, technology companies, publishers and journalists. Prior to Magnetic, Jamie led corporate communications at global ad technology firms including Turn and MediaMind (formerly Eyeblaster). Before joining MediaMind in-house, Jamie managed MarCom activities at a San Francisco-based agency where she spearheaded multiple communications strategies including the repositioning of Eyeblaster from a rich media company to a cross channel ad technology firm. Jamie earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of San Francisco.

Erik Kopelman – DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Kopelman joins the Magnetic team as director of business development, bringing several years of online advertising experience at both IAC Advertising and Vibrant Media. While at IAC, Kopelman held numerous positions including building operations teams and developing the IAC ad network. Before his career in the online advertising space, Kopelman worked in management positions at Arthur Andersen, Merrill Lynch and Altria. Kopelman received his MBA in finance & marketing from Fordham’s School of Business and his BS in accounting from Binghamton University. In addition, Kopelman is a New York State Certified Public Accountant.

 

Niels Meersschaert – PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT
Niels planted roots in the advertising world as a television commercial producer & editor. As the Internet came of age, he branched out to software, where for the past decade, he has been designing & building compelling web, mobile and desktop interfaces and applications. Most recently, he was responsible for building the content management system at Gucci, which they use to produce their e-commerce and brand sites in local language for markets around the globe. Previously, he built the search engine and other customer-facing products for BusinessWeek and has had his work featured by Apple. At Magnetic, he returns to his advertising roots.
